Spatial Planning for Open Living
Open plans work when zones are defined with proportion, sight lines, and subtle shifts in level, light, and material.

Open does not mean undefined
Removing walls does not remove the need for structure. Successful open living depends on clear zones for cooking, dining, and gathering — each with its own scale and sense of purpose.
Sight lines and sequence
We plan movement through a space the way one moves through a gallery: pause, reveal, connect. A kitchen may be visible from the living area without dominating it. Storage, islands, and partial screens can guide circulation without closing the room down.
Acoustic and visual calm
Soft boundaries — rugs, ceiling shifts, lighting layers — help large rooms feel inhabitable. The aim is a home that feels open and social, yet still composed enough for daily life.
